Description
This qualification aims to give learners knowledge and understanding to work with individuals with learning disabilities or difficulties. They will explore the principles of safeguarding and positive risk taking and gain awareness of the autistic spectrum.
This qualification is designed for learners with an interest in, or who are already working with, people with learning disabilities in a variety of roles.
To enrol on this course, you will be asked to book an interview session in one of our centres which should take around 60-90 minutes. If attending a session in person is not possible for you, please ring us on 0330 332 7997 to book a phone call. Our friendly Customer Engagement team and a dedicated course tutor will be there to support you in completing all the necessary sign-up paperwork and assessments as required. We will also tell you more about the course, what to expect from your time with us and arrange a start date (subject to availability).
Entry Requirements
There are no specific prior qualifications needed to access this qualification, although you may find it useful to have previously achieved a Level 1 qualification.
You should ideally have the equivalent of Level 1 literacy skills, however, a formal qualification is not required as this will be assessed prior to starting the course.
You will need access to the internet and a computer/laptop to complete the coursework.
Assessment
To achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities, learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units as detailed in the qualification specification.
You will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task. The course is assessed via coursework, there are no exams.
