Description

This qualification aims to raise awareness of mental health and a range of mental health problems. This qualification is designed for anyone looking to develop their understanding of mental health and the problems that can cause mental ill health.

This course will provide you with an understanding of what is meant by mental health and mental illness, as well as the legal frameworks that ensure high quality care can be provided.

You will be introduced to the causes and symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression and how they are managed, and form an understanding of phobias, eating disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. You will understand dementia, postnatal depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

To enrol on this course, you will be asked to book an interview session in one of our centres which should take around 60-90 minutes. If attending a session in person is not possible for you, please ring us on 0330 332 7997 to book a phone call.. Our friendly Customer Engagement team and a dedicated course tutor will be there to support you in completing all the necessary sign-up paperwork and assessments as required. We will also tell you more about the course, what to expect from your time with us and arrange a start date (subject to availability).  

Entry Requirements
There are no specific prior qualifications needed to access this qualification, although you may find it useful to have previously achieved a Level 1 qualification. You should ideally have the equivalent of Level 1 literacy skills, however, a formal qualification is not required as this will be assessed prior to starting the course. You will need access to the internet and a computer/laptop to complete the coursework.

Assessment
To achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems, learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes and assessment criteria of the units as detailed in the qualification specification.

You will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task. The course is assessed via coursework, there are no exams.
