This course is run by Carymoor Environmental Trust.
Please note: Each day lasts six hours, and is split up into two sessions either side of a lunch break

This course offers a hands-on introduction to scything, perfect for anyone interested in traditional land management or improving their health. Set in the tranquil Carymoor nature reserve, you'll learn the history, theory, and practical application of scything to effectively mow and manage grassland.
With a small group and expert guidance, it's an ideal way to connect with nature, develop a new skill, and enjoy the outdoors.

What are the entry requirements for this course?
This course is suitable if you're a beginner and want to learn about this subject, and you don't have relevant knowledge or experience.
Venue directions
Follow direction signs to Carymoor when approaching from Dimmer Lane. Pay attention to the traffic lights and only enter the site when the lights are green. There is a 10mph speed limit on site.
What will I need to bring?
Lunch will not be provided, please bring your own. Please bring a pen and some paper, your smartphone if you have one and your digital camera and any other equipment you would like to use. Please also wear clothing suitable for the weather/activity and bring photo ID with you e.g. passport or driving licence.
Will I be assessed?
There is no formal assessment for this course. Your tutor will provide feedback to help you improve.
