Description

If you enjoy helping others and want to build stronger, more understanding relationships in everyday life or work, this course is for you. Our Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills gives you the chance to develop practical skills and explore different approaches to counselling. You'll learn how to listen more effectively, respond with empathy, and understand what people might be feeling.

You'll gain useful counselling skills you can apply in real-life conversations, explore key counselling theories, learn how to work ethically and respect people's differences, and reflect on your own personal development and communication style.

How is this qualification structured?
Unit 01: Developing counselling skills
Unit 02: Theoretical approaches in counselling
Unit 03: Working ethically with counselling skills
Unit 04: Counselling skills and diversity
Unit 05: Counselling skills and personal development

This is a distance learning course, so you can study in your own time, at your own pace. You'll also have a friendly tutor to guide you, mark your work, and support you when needed.

Please note: This course won't qualify you to work as a counsellor

To join, you'll need to book a CEIAG session (Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance). This can be done in person or over the phone and usually takes around 30-40 minutes. If coming in person isn't possible, just give us a call on 0330 332 7997 and we'll arrange a phone appointment that works for you. Our friendly Front Door team will guide you through everything - from completing any paperwork and assessments to talking about your goals and next steps. We'll also explain more about the course, what you can expect, and help you choose a start date.  

Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements for this course, it's open to anyone with an interest in counselling skills. If you've already completed a Level 2 qualification, you may find it helpful, but it's not essential.

You will need access to a computer or device to use Teams for the tutor reviews and support if needed and you will need to download and upload your work.

Assessment
To be awarded the Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills learners are required to successfully complete 5 mandatory units.

For each unit of study you will need to submit an assignment to your Tutor, you will be provided with detailed feedback on your work submission.

You can submit your assignments as and when you have completed each unit of study.

There are no exams for this course

Progression
After completing this course, you could move on to further learning such as our Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant, Level 3 Early Years, or even a Level 4 Counselling qualification.

It's a great stepping stone for personal development or taking the next step in your career.
