Description
This is a practical 3-session course designed to help adults use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support their job search, applications, and career development.
The course is ideal for jobseekers, career changers, or anyone who wants to improve how they present themselves professionally - especially those who are new to the UK job market or who use English as an additional language.
Participants will learn how to use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot to create professional CVs and cover letters (based on National Careers Service guidelines), prepare for job interviews, and communicate effectively in the workplace. The course also covers how to write formal emails and letters for job applications and everyday situations, such as contacting employers.
Learners will explore key job-related communication skills, including:
- how to structure a CV for UK employers
- how to write tailored, impactful cover letters
- how to respond to interview questions using the STAR method
- how to write formal and polite emails
- how to adjust tone and language depending on the context (formal vs informal)
- how to use AI responsibly, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and professionalism
Throughout the course, participants will practise using AI to complete real-life employment tasks and learn how to ask AI effective questions (prompts) to get high-quality results.
The course runs over three sessions (three hours each) in a supportive, hands-on environment. Learners will receive templates, prompt examples, and personalised feedback.
By the end of the course, participants will feel more confident using AI to support their job applications, career progression, and workplace communication - with tools they can continue to use independently.
