Description
This qualification provides an opportunity to study a range of topics from three main areas: childcare and education, babysitting and parenting responsibilities. It contains all the units included in the Level 2 Award in Babysitting and the Level 2 Award in Preparation for the Responsibilities of Parenting. Additionally there are units covering learning, development and play. This qualification will support you in preparing for your 'next steps' either in training or moving towards work.
To enrol on this course, you will be asked to book an interview session in one of our centres which should take around 60-90 minutes. If attending a session in person is not possible for you, please ring us on 0330 332 7997 to a phone call. Our friendly Customer Engagement team and a dedicated course tutor will be there to support you in completing all the necessary sign-up paperwork and assessments as required. We will also tell you more about the course, what to expect from your time with us and arrange a start date (subject to availability).
Entry Requirements
There are no specific prior qualifications needed to access this qualification, although you may find it useful to have previously achieved a Level 1 qualification.
You should ideally have the equivalent of Level 1 literacy skills, however, a formal qualification is not required as this will be assessed prior to starting the course.
You will need access to the internet and a computer/laptop to complete the coursework.
You must currently live in Somerset/Dorset.
You must have been resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years, for purposes other than study.
You must be over the age of 19.
You must not be on an apprenticeship.
There is a £100 cancellation fee if you enrol and do not complete or withdraw from the course. This fee is to cover administration costs.
Assessment
To achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Introducing Caring for Children & Young People, learners must complete 16 credits.
You will be assessed by your tutor or assessor using a range of methods. This could include a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task.
Progression
You can progress to the Level 2 Certificate for the Children and Young People's Workforce or the Level 2 Certificate in an Introduction to Early Years Education and Care.
You could also look to join SS&L's Level 2 Apprenticeship for Early Years Practitioners or Level 3 Apprenticeship for Early Years Educator on completion of this course.
