Description

This course is designed for anyone who is new to the world of communicating using sign language! You'll be introduced to sign language and total communication and learn how it can be used in everyday life.

With support from your tutor, you will learn how to sign (Makaton) using sign language, speech, body language and facial expressions. You will practise everyday vocabulary that can be used in work, school, and in the community. Makaton can be used to support everyone, aiding with comprehension and expression. It is particularly useful for anyone who struggles with spoken communication.

During each session you will learn a new set of signs that you can take away and practise. The course will be run over 4 sessions in a friendly and supportive group setting. All you need to bring with you is a willingness to have fun and get involved!

Please be aware this course is not for those wishing to explore British Sign Language (BSL), which is predominately used by the deaf community.
