Description

The Level 3 Diploma for Working in the Early Years Sector (Early Years Educator) prepares learners to become Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. Any staff member with an EYE qualification and a Level 2 English qualification (Functional Skills Level 2 or GCSE grade 4/C or above) can be counted in the Level 3 staff to child ratios in childcare settings.

This qualification will give you 32 UCAS points for a passing grade, and is suitable for a range of learners, both those working or wishing to work in early years education and care.

Classes take place at various times and locations and you can join this course at any time during the year. It will usually take 18 months to complete.

To enrol on this course, you will be asked to book an interview session in one of our centres which should take around 60-90 minutes. If attending a session in person is not possible for you, please ring us on 0330 332 7997 to book an online session. Our friendly Customer Engagement team and a dedicated course tutor will be there to support you in completing all the necessary sign-up paperwork and assessments as required. We will also tell you more about the course, what to expect from your time with us and arrange a start date (subject to availability)..  

Entry Requirements
To study for this qualification, you will need to be aged 19 or over and working or volunteering in an Early Years Childcare setting for at least 10 hours a week.

You should ideally have the equivalent of Level 2 literacy skills, however, a formal qualification is not required as this will be assessed prior to starting the course.

You will need access to the internet and a computer/laptop to complete the coursework.

Assessment
You must complete a total of 10 mandatory units to successfully complete this qualification.

Placements are required for achievement of this qualification. A minimum of 350 placement hours is required. During placement, you will need support from a professional within the real work environment who will be required to complete professional development records.

Your tutor will support you through assessing your work and provide you with constructive feedback regularly to help you produce the standard of evidence required for this qualification.

Progression
You can progress to the Level 5 Diploma for the Early Years Senior Practitioner or other higher level early years qualifications. Upon achievement of this qualification, you will gain your licence to practise and can also enter the workforce as an Early Years Educator. You can progress into various job roles such as: - educator in day nurseries - educator in nursery schools - educator in reception classes in primary schools - pre-school worker
