Description
For those who have attended the Art & Design developer courses or other developer level art courses, this short course is an ideal progression. Each week we look at the three iconic subjects of all art, landscape, still life, portrait and figure drawing. Your tutor will begin each session with a brief presentation of contextual historical and contemporary art followed by a practical art activity.
Contemporary research shows us that creating art brings with it many surprising health and wellbeing benefits. Making art can reduce stress, increase happiness, encourage self-expression and expand critical thinking. This course has been designed for beginners to improvers and for those interested in exploring a new, creative, fun and relaxing pastime. This course is also well suited for those who wish to progress on to further or higher-level art education. During the final class your tutor will explain how to present your work in both digital and portfolio format for college and university interviews.
For the first class please ensure you have a subject for a landscape study from your own photographs or from magazines. SS&L has a supply of gouache paint, charcoal and paper for your use however, you are welcome to bring along your own art supplies of paper, pencils and pens and watercolour if you wish.
What are the entry requirements for this course?
This course is suitable if you have completed our Developer Level in this subject or a similar subject area, or have previous experience, and want to explore further and learn more extensively.
What will I need to bring?
For the first class please ensure you have a subject for a landscape study from your own photographs or from magazines. SS&L has a supply of gouache paint, charcoal and paper for your use however, you are welcome to bring along your own artsupplies of paper, pencils and pens and watercolour if you wish. Please also bring photo ID with you e.g. passport or driving licence.
Will I be assessed?
There is no formal assessment for this course. Your tutor will provide feedback to help you improve.
