Description

The Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools is aimed at support workers and teaching assistants in schools who directly support teachers in the teaching and learning of pupils.

This qualification provides the knowledge and understanding needed to work directly with children or young people in schools.

Learners will support the assessment for learning, developing relationships, promoting equality and diversity and understanding how to safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people.

Classes will be held online in an evening and you can join this course at any time during the year. It will usually take 18 months to complete.

To enrol on this course, you will be asked to book an interview session in one of our centres which should take around 60-90 minutes. If attending a session in person is not possible for you, please ring us on 0330 332 7997 to book an online session. Our friendly Customer Engagement team and a dedicated course tutor will be there to support you in completing all the necessary sign-up paperwork and assessments as required. We will also tell you more about the course, what to expect from your time with us and arrange a start date (subject to availability)..  

Entry Requirements
To study for this qualification, you will need to be aged 19 or over and employed as a Teaching Assistant in a School for at least 15 hours.

You should ideally have the equivalent of Level 2 literacy skills, however, a formal qualification is not required as this will be assessed prior to starting the course.

You will need access to the internet and a computer/laptop to complete the coursework.

Assessment
You must complete a total of 43 credits to successfully complete this qualification.

During your course you will complete all workbooks and coursework to the correct standard to evidence and achieve this award. Additional activities in this course include assignments, observations, review, witness records, reflective accounts.

Your tutor will support you through assessing your work and provide you with constructive feedback regularly to help you produce the standard of evidence required for this qualification.

Progression
On achievement of this qualification, you will gain experience and knowledge of the education system and support provided in schools in order to train further as a SENCO, specialist support worker or go on to a teaching role.
