This course is run by Autism Somerset.

Ever wanted to fully understand what it means to be neurodiverse?

This course, open to over 19s with neurodiversity including autism, ADHD, or any other example, is designed to you to build confidence and develop strategies to minimise anxiety. A diagnosis is not needed to attend this course.

Through exploring your own thinking processes and sensory needs, you'll gain valuable tools to enhance your wellbeing. Whether you're undiagnosed, seeking a diagnosis, on the diagnostic pathway, or newly diagnosed, this course offers support, insight, and a chance to connect with others who share similar experiences.

What this course explores
- Understanding anxiety and its impact on the brain
- Tools to manage and minimise anxiety
- Communication strategies for better interactions
- Exploring thinking processes and sensory processing needs
- Building resilience and confidence in everyday life

Session Breakdown:
1. Introductions to the course and peer group, discussions around communication strategies, preferences and assumptions
2. Deeper exploration of anxiety and how this is experienced, as well as what strategies can be put in place to minimise the negative impact this has on your life
3. Considering thinking processes through looking at our filing cabinet analogy of the brain
4. Exploring sensory processing differences, including sensation seeking or sensation avoidant behaviours

Join us to gain practical strategies and connect with others in a supportive environment. Perfect for over-19s with neurodiversity, whether diagnosed or undiagnosed!

This course is suitable if you're a beginner and want to learn about this subject, and you don't have relevant knowledge or experience.

There is no formal assessment for this course. Your tutor will provide feedback to help you improve.
