Description
This course is run by Mind in Somerset and will provide you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to recognise a range of mental health conditions, start supportive conversations and understand when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate support. Upon completion, learners will receive an Ofqual L2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health. The zoom link will be sent out after enrolment.
What is covered:
- Become a fully accredited First Aider for mental health
- Know what mental health is, why people develop mental health conditions and the role of a First Aider for mental health in the workplace
- Identify factors that can affect a person's mental health
- Identify signs/symptoms of various mental health conditions
- Know how to provide advice and practical support for a person presenting with a mental health condition
- Understand the first aid action plan for mental health and have sound knowledge of signposting/support services
Please note: there is a level of unsupervised learning and it is an expectation that learners will complete up to 3 hours of independent study as part of this qualification. Full guidance will be provided by your tutor in session. This course will be delivered online via Zoom and it is an essential requirement for learners to attend in full, as follows:
4th March 2025 - 10am-1pm
6th March 2025 - 10am-1pm
Week following - 1 hour with the tutor to complete an assessment of learning (Time to be agreed in session)

What are the entry requirements for this course?
This course is suitable if you have completed our Developer Level in this subject or a similar subject area, or have previous experience, and want to explore further and learn more extensively. You will need to have internet access and be able to join on Zoom.
What will I need to bring?
Please bring a pen and some paper. Please also bring photo ID with you e.g. passport or driving licence.
Will I be assessed?
There is no formal assessment for this course. Your tutor will provide feedback to help you improve.
