Ready to unleash your creativity and learn the art of drawing and painting?

This four-week, project-based course offers a practical introduction to the fundamentals of art, perfect for beginners or those hoping to build on existing skills.

Each week, you'll dive into new topics - still life, landscape, portrait, and figure drawing - through guided creative projects that build your confidence and artistic skills.

Your tutor will start each session with a brief presentation on historical and contemporary art to inspire you, followed by hands-on art activities. Along the way, you'll discover the many surprising health and wellbeing benefits of making art, from reducing stress and boosting happiness to encouraging self-expression and enhancing critical thinking.

Whether you're exploring a new hobby, looking to relax, or considering further art education, this course is for you!

What this course explores:
- Fundamentals of drawing and painting techniques

What are the entry requirements for this course?
This course is suitable if you have completed our Starter Level in this subject or a similar subject area, or have previous experience, and want to progress and explore this subject in more depth.

What will I need to bring?
For the first class we will focus on observational drawing. Please ensure you have a pencil, pen and some A3 or A4 cartridge paper. Please bring an image of an urban or rural landscape. This could be a photograph or an image from a magazine. Please also bring photo ID with you e.g. passport or driving licence.

Will I be assessed?
There is no formal assessment for this course. Your tutor will provide feedback to help you improve.
