This short course is perfect if you've completed our developer-level course or want to refine your skills further. You'll explore the timeless themes of landscape, still life, and portraiture while building your artistic confidence and creativity.
Each session begins with a brief look at historical and contemporary art to inspire your work, followed by engaging, practical activities led by your tutor. Whether you're a beginner or looking to enhance your existing skills, this course offers a supportive and relaxed environment to grow.
Creating art is not only rewarding but also promotes well-being by reducing stress, encouraging self-expression, and boosting critical thinking. During the final class, you'll receive guidance on presenting your work in both digital and portfolio formats, ideal for college or university interviews.

What are the entry requirements for this course?
This course is suitable if you have completed our Developer Level in this subject or a similar subject area, or have previous experience, and want to explore further and learn more extensively.
What will I need to bring?
For the first class please ensure you have a subject for a landscape study from your own photographs or from magazines. SS&L has a supply of gouache paint, charcoal and paper for your use however, you are welcome to bring along your own art supplies of paper, pencils and pens and watercolour if you wish. Please also bring photo ID with you e.g. passport or driving licence.
Will I be assessed?
There is no formal assessment for this course. Your tutor will provide feedback to help you improve.
