Description
This course is run by ARK at Egwood CIC in partnership with Multiply.
Parents - have you noticed how different maths is taught since you were at school? Do part whole models, and the thought of partitioning, addle your mind? Well, worry no longer!
We are hosting two 2-hour workshops, exploring different skills from Year 1 through to Year 6. We will look at the language now used, the basic skills, and how they follow your child throughout their primary education. You deserve to regain your confidence, so maths homework doesn't have to be the weekly chore you dread!
As well as re-learning maths skills, the course is a chance to get away from everyday life, gain confidence, and to meet new people in a safe, relaxed outdoor environment.
At the end of the course, we will give you a £10 Amazon voucher, which could be sent on fun maths games for all the family!
Ideally, you do not already have a level 2/GCSE C maths qualification, but please talk to us if you do.
The course will run for two consecutive Mondays, from 10:30 until 12:30.
What are the entry requirements for this course?
There are no qualifications required to join this course, just a willingness to learn and lots of enthusiasm. All sessions are face-to-face at ARK.
What will I need to bring?
Please bring photo ID with you e.g. passport or driving licence. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear including bringing a raincoat and warm clothing.
Will I be assessed?
There is no formal assessment for this course. Your tutor will provide feedback to help you improve.
What can I do next?
Learners will be encouraged to progress their learning and ARK will help to find suitable courses, either academic or progression learning, or move onto employment. Learners can also volunteer at ARK or other organisations locally, ARK can facilitate this. Learners from previous courses have gone onto do all of the above, having undertaken our courses and developed their skills in some of our taster sessions. Additionally they have made new friendships, and improved their overall confidence, particularly in social situations.
SS&L workshops and courses are designed to provide essential skills, develop confidence and resilience, improve your health and wellbeing, prepare you for further learning or employment, provide ways to learn with your family and build communities. We have a wide range of workshops and courses, and you can explore more on our website. There's something for everyone!
