Description
Are you ready to take your first steps into the world of coding? This qualification is designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of coding and help you build a solid foundation for a career in the digital sector.
Through this course, you will gain an understanding of:
- Principles of coding
- The stages of the software cycle
- Coding Terminology and the Key Principles or writing Code
- Different coding types
- Best practices in coding
- Methods of testing and the DevOps process
- Effective communication and project management in coding
Whether you're exploring coding for the first time or want to strengthen your knowledge of software development processes, this course will give you the skills and confidence to start your journey in tech.
To enrol on this course, you will be asked to book an interview session in one of our centres which should take around 60-90 minutes. If attending a session in person is not possible for you, please ring us on 0330 332 7997 to book a phone call. Our friendly Customer Engagement team and a dedicated course tutor will be there to support you in completing all the necessary sign-up paperwork and assessments as required. We will also tell you more about the course, what to expect from your time with us and arrange a start date (subject to availability).
Entry Requirements
This is an online level 2 distance-learning course. You will receive a log in for an online resources book and then you answer the questions online. You should have a willingness to complete this course online so will need access to a computer. You will have a named tutor in case you have any questions throughout the course.
You must currently live in Somerset/Dorset.
You must have been resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years, for purposes other than study.
You must be over the age of 19.
You must not be on an apprenticeship.
There is a £100 cancellation fee if you enrol and do not complete or withdraw from the course. This fee is to cover administration costs.
Assessment
Tutor Assessment - then verified.
There are no exams
Progression
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress onto:
Level 3 Certificate in Coding Practices
Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in IT User Skills
Level 3 Certificate in Programming.
